And that's a wrap! (production update)

(blog post edited on Jan 11th due to missing paperwork)

It's done! Finally finished the final cut, now only the upload is left.

It's been a long, stressful and distressful process to edit "18% There" by 4th Exit Productions.

At first I had a problem to acquire the footage from Maria, who decided she doesn't "trust" me to edit it, but after turning to the authorities (the program leaders) it turned out she had to give it to me for the whole crew to get graded on this. This means that she wanted to sink only me and then realized that it would also sink her. Too bad. I don't think I need to elaborate further on my feelings towards Maria - I think my negative stance towards her is quite obvious.

Anyway, the editing it self was a very long process and for me especially because I have never edited anything, besides my own personal videos. The whole thing to me was very educational and prosperous. I edited video, sound and color graded. I did everything from scratch. And even though there are mistakes in the edit and I'm quite sure I will get picked on by someone on something I am still very proud of myself for editing this piece (and even more proud considering the journey to even get to edit).

Many of the rushes had problems, the colors of BlackMagic are simply horrible and the script was a 5 minute video at first. So at the beginning nothing looked pink. But as everything was coming to an end I was starting to get more relaxed and more content with myself. I'm not saying I did THE best job, but I definitely did MY best and put all my effort into this. And to me that is what counts. At the end of the day we will get a grade, but I know for sure I did my best and then how others see it, is subjective.

I emailed David about the paperwork and received an email (a screen shot is below the videos). According to the email I shouldn't invent them if I didn't get any camera and sound reports, which I didn't. If they are required of me to do them (or some of them anyway) I could go backwards and do some of them.

Just to see how far everything has gone I will link both the 1st rough cut (with synced sound) and final cut (the one uploaded for the screening).
