Memories of 1095 Kildare Ave E
It's been a while since I felt this stressed but in the same time relieved. Last night I received a call from Winnipeg. It was my Canadian grandma Diane wishing a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
When I came to her house more than 3 years ago, I was a scared kid, who just wanted to have a safe place to sleep and warm food more than once a week. I got that AND SO MUCH MORE. Diane gave me home, happiness, new family - the Fanshaws, with amazing kids, Violet and Aiden, and most of all she gave me love. In this sentimental time of Christmas, I had those 10 minutes on the phone with her, the day got suddenly much brighter (even though it was midnight) and this short moment meant so much to me. It was like coming home. THANK YOU. I don't think I can even express how grateful I am.
My Christmas 3 years ago was so much different from this year's one. Not only I spent it in Winnipeg (or Hazelridge for that matter) but I also got so much love in the time when I needed it and when I missed my family back in Slovakia I got a new one and to be completely honest I wouldn't change anything about that Christmas 3 years ago - it was one of those that I will remember for the rest of my life.
I hope all my people in Winnipeg have amazing Christmas and all the best in the next year! Hopefully in 2017 I will finally make my way to the province of 10 thousand lakes!
