My One & Only (production update)

Callnoir Productions, aka director Lana Luchka and producer Dar Abbi Williams, and the short film based on script by Lana Luchka "My One & Only".

Production design in this piece is more oriented into what I can actually do in the costume department. Of course set design is immensely important, however due to the nature of the story I will not have much choice about the set design and will have to focus more on actual location, which is where the catch is. Lana needs a piano in the apartment, where her main character lives, which is a huge struggle. We tried looking for locations on Shoot Factory, but they are way too expensive. We tried AirBnb but as soon as the word 'piano' is mentioned no one would allows us to film there. So I'm down to the fact that I'm going to be working with what I have.

On that note, I will focus on props that would be placed in the main character's apartment and costumes that will be worn. The story rotates around two 70yo people, a composer and a journalist. While for the journalist I have quite a clear vision, I'm not completely sure about the composer. For the journalist, Gabriele, I found my inspiration in Anna Wintour, the head editor of US Vogue and probably the most stylish woman her age, ever. I'm currently looking over things for the composer, Alfred, but I haven't found inspiration and nothing comes to my mind.

The director, Lana Luchka, is a good friend of mine and working with her is going absolutely great. We understand each other well, I respect her and she respects me and on top of all that I believe in her vision for this film, which is quite important, as I see it.

On the other hand, the producer is just so difficult and sometimes I have to bite my tongue way more than I want to. She is always late, and when I say always I mean ALWAYS. We had one early morning production meeting, where I had to threaten her to leave if she's late. If it was anyone else who is late I would maybe have a better understanding for them. But she made all of us get up super early and she would be late? No. Especially not if you're the producer, who is supposed to keep everyone in check and on time. Maybe I'm wrong. And the other thing are her motivational speeches she gives EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have enough listening to Eddie's motivational-don't-be-a-dick speeches, I don't have to listen to more. I need to know when, where, what and how. It's getting on my nerves.
